Attorney

Brian M. Laughlin concentrates his legal practice in all types of workers' compensation and occupational diseases claims, simple to complex personal injury cases, as well as business and commercial litigation. He has represented clients in all facets of the litigation process, from developing an early strategy, to trial and appeal.

Before forming The Law Office of Brian M. Laughlin, P.C., Mr. Laughlin was a founding partner of Owens & Laughlin LLC. Mr. Laughlin spent his early career in Chicago, learning his craft as an insurance defense attorney and litigating cases on behalf of a wide variety of employers and businesses throughout the state of Illinois. In that role, he learned the many tactics employed by insurance companies to defend and deny claims. He saw first-hand the errors and inefficiencies in the claims handling process which now allow him to have a unique perspective which greatly benefits the clients he represents today.

Mr. Laughlin has extensive experience in the presentation and examination of all facets of medical evidence, including comprehensive examination and impeachment of opponents' expert witnesses. He approaches every case from the perspective of winning the trial months before the case is even tried through early, meticulous and thorough case management and trial preparation. For this reason, Mr. Laughlin urges every potential client to consult with him immediately after a claim arises, in order to mitigate possible weaknesses and to build a solid foundation for a successful outcome. He takes pride in providing high-quality legal representation and has a personal stake in his clients' future success.

Mr. Laughlin has many interests outside of his legal practice including, but not limited to, family, his Greater Swiss Mountain Dog - Max, golf, 5k runs, trees, Disney, motorcycles, classic cars, baseball, 18th century Great Britain, revolutionary France, travel, cooking shows, microbreweries, lexicography, books of all kind, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, art, painting, architecture, geology, anthropology, paleontology, archeology, astronomy, drums, and mountaineering.
